Providence Public Library (PPL) is currently seeking a candidate for the position of Data Navigators 2.0 Instructor in Training for the Teen Squad program. PPL's Teen Squad program empowers teens to be content creators by exploring and learning new technology skills that are transferable to the real world. The Data Navigators 2.0 course provides a foundation of data analytics basics including: 1) posing a question, 2) collecting relevant data, 3) cleaning the data using spreadsheet software, 4) visualizing that data using industry accepted software, and 5) analyzing data for insightful trends and correlations. The Data Navigators 2.0 Instructor in Training will shadow and teach alongside the current Data Navigators 2.0 Instructor and Teen Educators with the goal of teaching future Data Navigators 2.0 courses independently. The Instructor in Training will learn the Data Navigators 2.0 curriculum and assist teens with instruction and support throughout this course. The course runs January 29 - May 30, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:45am - 12:45pm (55 instructional hours) with additional planning time of up to 27 hours.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This position will report to the Lead Technology Specialist, and work closely with the Teen Educator, Teen Librarian, and Workforce Development Specialist. Duties will include but not be limited to; learning and teaching the Data Navigators 2.0 curriculum and actively assisting a group of teens throughout the data analytics course while they complete their digital badge tasks and choose and complete their final projects.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS ● Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; ● Advanced knowledge of Tableau or willingness to learn; ● Ability to use collaboration tools such as Google Drive or SLACK; ● Experience teaching in a formal or informal educational setting a plus (not required); ● Experience with micro-credentialing a plus (not required).
