Description
Literacy and Technology Facilitators for ONA’s Barrio Digital will lead classes for adults and children in a weekly program designed for participants to acquire technological and literacy skills for educational, economic, and social purposes. The program provides space and training dedicated to the educational use of technology and support for parent-child interaction. Facilitators will teach adult learners to (1) develop word processing skills for the purpose of creating resumes and helping children with school work; (2) develop internet research and usage skills for the purpose of applying for jobs and helping children with school work; (3) learn how to use Skype, Google Hangout, and other platforms for maintaining communication with family in home countries or with potential employers or colleagues in the U.S. Facilitators will teach youth participants to gain (1) word processing skills for the purpose of writing essays and reports for school; (2) internet research skills to help with their school work and writing assignments; and (3) learn how to use Skype, Google Hangout, and other platforms for maintaining communication with family in home countries and keeping the home languages alive. 


Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience working with adults and children. Education majors preferred. Technology skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet research and communications. Bilingual in Spanish and English required; K’iche’ skills preferred.
