We had an outstanding semester of chess at D'Abate. We hosted or traveled to matches as part of the RI Scholastic Chess League and ended up placing 5th among the 8 teams. I was particularly proud of the fact that we have so many fantastic players who are girls on our team. We will say goodbye to some 5th graders and connect them with chess coaches at the schools where they are headed.

This semester we worked specifically on openings and I think that has helped us tremendously in tournaments.
