Met with my learner and we baked two cakes. While the cakes were baking, we learned about the Gettysburg Address, focusing mainly on the speech itself and what it means. Next week, we are going to Andrews to visit a new dining hall.

Met with my learner and we finished the documentary on Aboriginals of Australia and moved on to learn more about koalas.
Replied to messages via email, text, call, and GroupMe. Discussed the panel and we want it to be open to the community. Talked with Michael Plansky about You're With Us! and had a meeting with a student who is in Sign Language and interested in joining PAL and helping to get the DHH to PAL. Met with Rachael to discuss the Celebration, and held a meeting with all BFs to discuss and assign jobs for Celebration.
Idalmis and I met in the Blue Room and held office hours. No one came, but we sent emails and filled out impacts. I think we need to send out an email to the whole PAL cohort to remind them that they must go to one office hour a month.
Meet with my learner and we learned about aboriginals in Austrailia. We are in the middle of a documentary on YouTube called "Full Documentary. The Men of Fifth World - Planet Doc full Documentaries" and we are at 29:04. We also watched a video about the different accents heard in Austrailia. Next week we will finish the documentary and pursue a new topic.
I met with my new learner for the second time today and we walked to the blue room, visiting a Brown University Dining Hall. Then we went downstairs to the microwave and made rice crispy treats with green food coloring for Saint Patrick's Day. Afterwards, we walked back to the classroom and learned about bagpipes and listened to the music. Next week we are going to my apartment and baking a cake.
One difficulty has been that my new learner learns completely different than my old tutor, so I need to figure out a visual way to teach without videos. Perhaps writing on the board?
During the past month and a half, I have helped with finding new site leaders. Planned and organized parts of the celebration. Went to Bonner Fellow Trainings.
Met with Andrew and talked with him before and after the Workshop. I went to Andrew's Persectives talk and learned about the differences between peoples aspirations and reality.
Some of my notes from the talk:
-"Disability is not a reliable predictor of people's aspirations" - Erik Carter
-50-70% have aspirations to get a secondary education while 23% actually do
-"People need relationships more than programs" - Erik Carter
I answered emails, texts, and calls. I also sent emails out to the PAL cohort and communicated with Alexus, Andrew, and Bonner Fellows about succession, panel, and issues.
