This PAL meeting opened my eyes to the importance of self-determination, and how we can use it to empower our disabled learners. I learned more about how to act as an encouraging tutor who can foster a strong bond with my learner.
Today was my very first meeting with my PAL learner. I used the time to introduce ourselves to one another and to gauge his interests. We ended up agreeing that he would be learning about cars this semester, and I would incorporate scientific aspects of cars like chemistry and physics into the lessons. My learner was very excited to learn more about cars and was happy with our first meeting.
