Megan Zhang completed her practicum with Generation Teach, a nonprofit organization that aims to provide a quality teaching experience for undergraduates as well as a free 6-week STEAM academy for students of partner public school districts, including the Providence Public School District. At Generation Teach, Megan completed two weeks of teacher training related to identity, classroom control, and behavior management through a restorative framework. Then, the teaching component consisted of guiding four classes of rising seventh and eighth grade students through a law curriculum which promoted critical thinking skills, leading community-building events, and receiving daily feedback from a teaching coach.

I worked with my group on some fun math exercises!
Susan and I worked on our calendar, aiming to finish next week!
Melissa and I drew some pretty cool cats and took a break for snack time!
In my small group, we talked about counting by 2s and 5s, coloring, and Halloween!
Susan and I began to work on a big project, a DIY calendar! We chatted about her birthday plans (which also happen to be her Halloween plans), and made some great art for our project!
I continued to work on math with my small group, including subtraction competitions to get all of the kids engaged! I think I also did a better job with maintaining order within my group.
