This summer I worked as COYOTE RI's (Call Off Your Old and Tired Ethics) Research and Writing Intern. This was a remote internship that doubled as my ESP Practicum and mostly consisted of working with the COYOTE team to write and edit an e-book they have been working on for the past two years. COYOTE RI is a grassroots organization that consists of sex workers, former sex workers, and allies dedicated to ending the stigmatization of sex work and improve conditions for those in the sex industry. COYOTE does this work in a number of different ways ranging from policy work/lobbying to research to street outreach. My internship largely consisted of writing chapters for their e-book, sifting through survey data on sex workers, and editing/finalizing the e-book for publishing. Overall this internship has exposed me to the inner workings of a grassroots organization, has exposed me to community engaged research, and has provided me with the experience of putting together an actual book.
